They are walking the walk in Pittsburgh.
Recognized as one of the greenest urban regions, Pittsburgh is hosting the G20 Summit, which starts today. President Obama will chair the meeting of leaders from countries around the world, collectively representing 85% of the world's economy.
At the Summit, leaders will review the progress made since the Washington and London Summits and discuss further actions to assure a sound and sustainable recovery from the global financial crisis.
Obama Foodorama (always on the ball) reports that the catering in Pittsburgh will not be at the hand of celebrity chefs, but prepared by on-site caterers at the event's two main venues. All food served at the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens will be organic, sustainable and locally-produced; the coffee will be Fair Trade; and all waste will be composted or recycled.
For her part (which is always considerable), First Lady Michelle Obama will accompany leaders' spouses on a tour of Teresa Heinz Kerry's Rosemont Farm, where Sen. John Kerry and his wife grow crops and raise chickens and cows.
It seems no matter what's on the political agenda, the Obamas keep a green frame of mind.
