California winemakers who take measures to operate their vineyards with an environmentally responsible ethos will soon be able to apply a certification label to their bottles. That's good news for consumers and good news for mama earth.
The Certified California Sustainable Winegrowing Program is 10 years in the making, but no word yet on when exactly it will launch. Among other requirements, vintners who wish to qualify will need to demonstrate that they do not use pesticides on their vines.
