"This city has green business down to a science, along with plenty of eco-friendly accommodations, attractions and places to chow down."
That's the word on Milwaukee from Mother Nature Network writer Stephanie Rogers. MNN made a visit (virtual or otherwise) to our fair city and gave the nod especially to developments in green business: "Milwaukee seems to be on the cusp of having one of the nation's strongest green local economies, with plenty of jobs at companies like Johnson Controls, which developed a new battery for hybrid cars."
Local eateries like Cafe Manna and Beans & Barley were given a thumbs-up, and the Hotel Metro earned kudos for cork and bamboo interior choices. The story was put together before Chartreuse moved to Brady Street, so the author lists them as a Bay View business, and she missed out on mentioning Outpost, and our stores' sustainable features. Recycled rubber flooring, energy-saving skylights and a green-designed building on a redeveloped brownfield, anyone? Aw, shucks.
You can't win them all. But it's nice to see a profile of Milwaukee that focuses on where the city is going, not where it has been.
