Outpost is turning 40 this April, and we're having some fun with it, both in the stores and in the Exchange magazine.
And we're feeling a bit nostalgic, looking back at the co-op's early days and marveling at how far we have come, all the while holding onto our core values and mission.
And Milwaukee. The city has been through a lot of changes since the '70s, and it got us wondering... what if it was a birthday for Milwaukee and we could ask for anything we wanted? What HASN'T happened in Milwaukee in recent decades that you wish had come to fruition? Perhaps you'd hanker for light rail connections to neighboring cities, or a new plan for the Summerfest grounds. This city of ours is ripe with potential. Let's make a wish-list for the mayor!
Add you comment here, or e-mail lizs@outpostnaturalfoods.coop with your thoughts. If we get enough material, we'll have a fun and valuable item to add to the magazine. And yes, we'll send it to the mayor.

I would ask the mayor to maintain the integrity of organic foods.
Dear Friend,
I just submitted my comments to the USDA telling them to protect the integrity of organics by not approving the use of genetically modified (GMO) alfalfa. The USDA has alarmingly and mistakenly announced that they do not believe that consumers care whether or not GMOs are a part of our food supply and our agricultural production. Approving GMO alfalfa would significantly harm the integrity of and access to organic food, as well as the livelihoods of organic farmers. We need to show them that we do indeed care!
Please take a moment to submit your comments to the USDA by following this link from Food Democracy Now! Then please pass this on.
