.. Up in the Air. An adult "dramedy" taps into the emotions of current tough times, said one critic, and that sums it up quite nicely. George Clooney stars as the corporate gunslinger and frequent flyer, traveling from one city to another - to fire people.
As one blogger puts it: "(Director) Reitman puts the job at the fore, recording the responses of Americans being fired (or recreating their emotional states in describing the moment they were 'downsized'), and it is these moments in direct collision with Clooney's old school Hollywood charms that makes this a much better movie than it should be."
What does this have to do with our usual subject matter, organic food and local businesses? Well, if you go to your local theatre to see it (as many have, according to the Facebook accounts of packed houses), then you'll be supporting a local business. The Oriental is now showing the film on two screens, through next Thursday (Dec. 31) and possibly beyond that, due to its popularity.
